Following is the latest update from Gap Adventures regarding the upcoming May trips. While I remain hopeful, I am increasingly resigned to the idea that plans may not work out as hoped. According to the torch relay website, the torch is not scheduled to be in Lhasa until June 21st.

Lhasa Tourism authorities announced this week that foreign tour groups would once again be allowed into Tibet starting May 1st. Today, however, there have been reports that the Tibetan Tourism Bureau has advised that foreigners will not be allowed into Tibet until after the Olympic torch has passed safely. G.A.P. Adventures is monitoring this situation and confirming all news reports. We will make a decision on the operation of early May departures by next week.
